Perla Joe Maalouli is one of the voices and one of the faces of the 2019 Lebanese Revolution. Sitting down in the ring, at the centre of the protest, with the protesters, facing the police and the security forces, she read poems in front of the Public Electricity building. She drove 300 Lebanese women to intercede with the militaries and avoided a possible blood bath. Perla Joe Maalouli is 27 years old, she is a filmmaker, a musician, a poet, a bigmouth, a rebel-born person. Let’s meet her thanks to this dialogue with international history professor Davide Rodogno and cultural journalist David Brun-Lambert.

A 27 ans, à la fois cinéaste, musicienne, sportive de haut niveau, poète et activiste, Perla Joe Maalouli est l’une des voix fondamentales de la Révolution libanaise de 2019.

Au cœur des manifestations, faisant face à la police et aux forces de sécurité, elle a notamment lu ses poèmes incandescents devant le bâtiment de l'Électricité publique du Liban, puis a encouragé 300 femmes à intercéder auprès des militaires afin d'éviter un probable bain de sang.

Perla Joe Maalouli répond à notre première question rituelle «que signifie avoir le droit?», puis nous parle de son expérience de gardienne de but (5'), de l'adrénaline qu'elle a éprouvée dans ce rôle et de sa détermination à défendre ses buts. Elle rapporte les incohérences de son pays et explique la corruption de son système (9'). Elle parle de féminisme (15') et de ce qu’elle est en mesure faire pour que triomphe la Révolution. Perla Joe Maalouli nous explique ses espoirs placés en la diaspora libanaise (19'), ses modes d'expression en tant qu'artiste (24') et plus largement sa vision de la vie et Pson engagement politique. En conclusion, elle réagit à Trame, une œuvre de Martial Mingam qui représente la Déclaration des Droits de l’Homme de 2018 passée au broyeur puis tressée de façon aléatoire (27’).
